If you haven’t heard of the Georgia Guidestones (the GGs), don’t be surprised, because your local TV station will not be doing an exposé anytime soon.   I found them through my travels within the internet one day when an apparent conspiracist commented in another blog about the hierarchy.  Those who are reading my blog will know why that last word caught my attention.  I dutifully did some searching and come across this fascinating item and what it had to say.  On the surface it initially sounded like a group of Sustainability enthusiasts might have set it up.  But on thinking about it all critically, my eyebrows raised in astute surprise.  It is an open agenda for everyone to see and it isn’t about living sustainably, although some of the guidelines might be construed as sustainable ideals!

To set the stage: the GGs were commissioned by a man using a pseudonym of R.C. Christian and he told the stone masons he had unlimited funds.  What was finally erected about 90 miles east of Atlanta, Georgia, was a granite monument that encoded some of the sacred geometry associated with many of the ancient mystery/occult  schools (Masons, Rosicrucian’s, Egyptians, etc …).  The monument is over 19 feet tall and has a central square pillar surrounded geometrically by four slabs and all capped by a large square slab.  On the four vertical outer slabs are the 10 literally ‘chiseled in granite’ Guidelines written in 8 modern languages (English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Mandarin, and Russian.).  On the capstone slab is chiseled a shorter message, “Let these be guidestones to an age of reason” in four ancient languages (Babylonian Cuneiform, Classical Greek, Sanskrit, and Egyptian Hieroglyphics) – why ancient languages is a good question, which is why I presume an ancient mystery school is at work.

All wonderfully secretive stuff.  The explanation for anonymity given the owners of the granite quarry building the monument was that the group responsible didn’t want people to be distracted from the stones messaging.  The quarry owners were told by R.C. Christian that the monument and guidelines had been planned for years as a moralistic guide for the conservation of humanity and the planet that are meant to appeal to everyone regardless of nationality, religion, or politics.  I’ve no problem with that – sounds great.  It is the underlying questions raised in my mind that make me concerned about a moralistic (and secretive) group that had seem to have the best of intentions on the surface, but to what end?  Maybe I’m being a little too skeptical, but a closer look at the guidelines raises concerns, or should do.

So, what are the ten guidelines?

  1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
  2. Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.
  3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
  4. Rule with passion — faith — tradition — and all things with tempered reason.
  5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
  6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
  7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
  8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
  9. Prize truth — beauty — love — seeking harmony with the infinite.
  10. Be not a cancer on the earth — Leave room for nature.

Was this some rich religious (or occult) group wishing to proclaim its doctrines to the world, much like some southern U.S. court houses have a stone copy of the 10 commandments in front of them?  I cannot initially disagree with any of the above guidelines that all sound quite fair and noble. But I flinch when I consider the motives and methods that creators of the monument might use to achieve these goals.  In essence, who would be in charge, and what happens to anyone who isn’t in complete agreement?

In number 1, how would we reduce humanity’s population down to just half a billion from 7.5 billion – note no timeline is given, so if we assume natural processes with some planning (I.e. Demographic transition support) then fine, but is there a darker agenda to do this quicker?  The guidelines give goals but little else to help us perceive the group’s overall motives.  Then for number 2, this makes me cringe – what does improving fitness and diversity mean? – planned eugenics for some sort of genetic master race with perfected species around the world?   Number three ignores the wonderful diversity of language that makes humanity and multiple cultures so unique – we have some 6-7000 languages in the world, many being lost every year.  Are we to homogenize humanity to a state that supports only one specific worldview, one language, one culture, one way only? – and whose worldview, language or culture?  Numbers 4-8 seem to talk about a single world government. Strangely, there is no mention of the people being in charge.   Why I cannot disagree with the actual statements, who is making these decisions?  Then add in about ‘faith’ and ‘tradition’ – It doesn’t imply about broad acceptance of all but more of a one?  I have had many discussions with many well intentioned people who really do think that we should all be a singular unit of humanity. But they have quite radical views as to how this should happen and brotherly LOVE is not a cornerstone of what they envision.  Number 9 and 10 could be right of my own playbook.  They all sound great, but it’s the devil in the details – or lack thereof – that bugs me If I were to make all these statements above (and I seem to be doing that in this blog) I will explain and be completely open with my motives and ideas as to how I perceive they could come about.  I stand open in the light ready for any questions, critiques and criticisms.    I do not make blanket statements from the secretive darkness with no indication of an agenda!   Beware nice sounding words when they are done from anonymity – groups who hide in the dark usually have dark agenda’s, and you are unlikely to be a recipient of the benefits these groups have in mind.  If this makes me a conspiracist, then so be it.  At least I see the Cabalistic conman with his hidden agendas for what he is.
