As I was typing up this week’s post about Agriculture, I got this question from a friend, “Why will anyone give up the convenience of modern living and start doing all this work towards a sustainable world that you talk about – because it entails work and also seems to be a lot of inconvenience doesn’t it.”  Fair question. I have a few questions for you now.

How is the hierarchy modelling ‘Good’ in the world?  How is all the power and wealth inherent within the hierarchical system being used to be a force for goodness and resolution of social and ecological problems?  How are any of the virtues we espouse about a caring, sharing society modelled by the ‘important’ politicians, technocrats, and oligarchical people helping us live wholesome, loving and purposeful driven lives?  Is there any kindness, empathy, or spiritual mindfulness that displays integrity, being exhibited in any way by the hierarchies that so influence our lives?  Are any of your lives improving in peace. Love, joy and ultimate prosperity because of all the latest round of political elections?

I know I’m supposed to be talking about the New Agricultural Revolution, but a short sidebar section to reinforce WHY we need to ‘work towards a sustainable world’ involves some work, some apparent loss of convenience, and a complete change in how we live is needed for those not yet convinced there is a global shitstorm coming at all of us.  It’s a multifactorial and interrelated shitstorm; ecological, economic, and sociological.  In over words, everything we always considered ‘normal’ is about to change drastically.  While we once had nations or regions of instability where the people underwent their little shitstorms, for the first time in human history, it is ow global.  And that’s how the Cabal and the dominant hierarchies like it – they maintain power and control.

Look at this graphic of a lake view.  Thats how bamboozled most of the world is – that is the illusion that the Cabal has programmed us (conditioned) and wants us to remain.  (It’s like many other illusion pictures I have used to push this point.)  Now, notice the small rectangular box in the lake close to the bank.  Zoom in if your will.  Look carefully (sorry it’s not sharper).  What is it?  It’s only when prompted to look that most of you will become aware of something strange – the reflections on the water are not reflections, they are stains on a whitewashed wall!  The rectangle is a vent-brick about a third way up the wall.  When you put your focus on information away from the mainstream media, you start to see everything in a different light.  We all know how corrupt hierarchies are around the world but it’s like cognitive dissonance to see it differently – it’s psychologically uncomfortable to recognize the truth.  Easier to believe the myth than face the truth.

If the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – conquest, the violence of warfare, famine, and widespread death – represents your view of how the future is unfolding then maybe look at who these riders are – they are not you and me, they are the hierarchical Cabal in which you are merely a means to end for their power and control.

I you want a caring, sharing, collaborative world in which Love, joy and harmony are more prominent, then stop listening to the tales of woe given to you daily by the mainstream mouthpieces of the Cabal.  We want integrity, we even expect integrity, but do we get it?  Not from the shitheads we give OUR power away to.  I have paraphrased this short magazine piece from a local publisher in my area that says a lot of what we want and what exists already at our local level.

People of Integrity: In today’s world, where the loudest voices often rise above the wisest ones, it’s worth pausing to reflect on a quieter, more steadfast strength: integrity.  True integrity doesn’t chase accolades or demand attention.  It shows up in the small, often unnoticed moments – when no one’s watching, when the easy choice is tempting, and when standing firm might mean standing alone.   We need to celebrate those people in our lives – parents, siblings, spouses, friends and mentors – who lead not just with words, but with character.  A person of integrity isn’t perfect.  They don’t pretend to have it all figured out.  But what sets them apart is their consistency – how they treat other people, how they honor their own word, and how they show up for those depending upon them.  They are like the coach or teacher who stays to encourage a kid who’s struggling.  They are the business person who chooses honesty and what is ‘right’ over profitable shortcuts.  They are the parent that apologizes when they get it wrong to teach the kids that strength lies in accountability and humility, in a world that often rewards the opposite.  We know these people – they’re sitting around the dinner tables, running non-profits, coaching and teaching beyond expectations, volunteering and quietly working hard to make life better for people around them.  They may not always get the recognition, but their impact is real, deep, and lasting.  So, to the people of integrity: Thank you.  Thank you for modelling what it means to lead with character.  Thank you for proving that kindness and strength are not opposites, but partners.  And thank you for reminding us that living a good life isn’t about how much attention they receive – but how much better the world is because they were in it”  Desiree Gustafson.

Yes, we are the ones we are waiting for and whether you know it or not, if you already embrace a sustainable future, there are already many people watching you and judging you as a leader of quality and integrity.  So, is the work worth it?  Embrace the change you wish to see in your life and you’ll inspire others to follow you.  The hierarchies are NOT going to change, so we will have to do the changing.  Once we start seriously it sustainable practices moving along, it will be a lot like the birthing process – painful for a brief while, but ending a miracle of creation.  What it will look like is what we will make it look like – in our vision.  We will be different from all of civilized history, but we must embrace what past cultures showed us as a good way to live.

“The Original Way: There were no poor – because there were no hoarders.  Wealth was not accumulation: It was relationship; it was harmony; it was trust.  In sacred balance, everyone had enough because no one took more than they needed.  This was not charity; this was wisdom.  This was not utopia.  It was the natural rhythm of a people who remembered they belonged to the Earth – and to each other” Anonymous.

So, to address the original question.  Will becoming truly sustainable be convenient?  Probably not; at least not in the beginning.  Will it make our live better?  Amazingly so.  If you want a world of Peace, Love, harmony, and high quality with the best of technology that promotes life, then it begins with us.  Is it worth it?  I think so; but then a lot of people consider me a heretic for trying to change the existing system that is failing us and planet so grievously.  I am one of those weird people who think that a simpler and fulfilling high quality of life for all people is better than an egoic life chasing after hedonistic pleasures that are fun for the moment, but leave one feeling hollow.  Forgive my preachy blog, but it seems I keep needing to make the obvious path more obvious, at least when it comes to creating a sustainable future.  Back to the New Agricultural Revolution in the next post.
